The Diploma of Chaplaincy is comprised of 8 units and is completed via online facilitation. This facilitation is broken into four 2.5-day intensive sessions held online, as well as a face-to-face involvement in our study intensive.

  • In this unit students will explore a variety of topics that form the basis of pastoral care and be encouraged to creatively engage these topics with their own context.

  • This unit helps students develop a theological framework and understanding of major chaplaincy related issues, which are common to pastoral carers and chaplains. This unit also discusses topics on self-care and accountability of those in chaplaincy areas.

  • This unit allows students to explore topics around grief, loss, common mental health issues, seeking support and self-care. Students will have the opportunity to learn to engage with their emotions, and to develop an understanding of the emotions of others.

  • Throughout this unit of study, students are encouraged to explore Christianity’s foundational beliefs and reflect on the way their faith influences their life and calling.

  • Students will select one of two bible units either BIB007 Introduction to Israel’s Scriptures OR BIB008 Introduction to the New Testament

These units will explore the historical and thematic themes of the Bible, students will be encouraged to consider the message of Scripture and its application for today’s context.

  • Christianity is about transformed lives, and this year-long unit provides students with an opportunity to develop an understanding of Christian spirituality and the disciplines and attitudes necessary for personal spiritual formation.

  • Highly practical, in this unit students engage in 100 hours of practical placement in an area of specialisation, with a qualified supervisor.

ALUMNI STORIES

Lorraine - Chaplain

Diploma of Ministry

When I began my journey with Training I was stuck in a rut and not sure who I was or even where belonged. I was shy, withdrawn and broken. With a gentle persuasion I stepped into CRC Training. I am now out of my rut,  confident in who I am and who God has called me to be. I am free to step into my calling in Christ!
